The work for the municipal housing in walls is progressing rapidly.

But material bottlenecks are also noticeable there.

Walls

- Representatives of the municipality of Mauern and the municipal council were on the move for an hour, because there was a lot to see on the construction site for municipal living in walls.

Despite a difficult market situation in the industry, construction is right on schedule.

The 21 apartments could be occupied in just over a year.

During the on-site visit, the first apartments with two or four rooms could already be seen in the shell of the ground floor.

The walls are currently being pulled up on the future first floor.

About a third of the three-storey building and the underground car park are now in place.

Completion is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022.

The roof is to be closed in December of this year and the building envelope in January.

Received initial inquiries from interested parties

Mayor Georg Krojer made it clear that there are currently no application options, even if he has already received initial inquiries from local residents.

The municipal council still has to define the criteria for the award.

Mauern's local chief also sees the communal apartments as a weighty argument when looking for staff for the communal administration or kindergartens in the future.

During the construction site tour, the responsible planner Kai Krömer made it clear that the companies involved were doing a good job and that one would get along well with the neighbors, even if a large construction site of this size could not go smoothly.

However, the procurement of materials always causes great difficulties.

It is currently hoped that the windows will be installed in the building in January.

The windows currently have a delivery time of 20 weeks, while a period of five to six weeks is usually the norm.

Currently still a major construction site, the project should be completed by the end of 2022.

The windows on the long side next to the supermarket are a special feature.

Only the ground floor is protected with the soundproof wall, the two floors above will have soundproof windows with impact protection.

These cannot be opened.

The balconies on the south-western facade also have glazed noise protection that can be pushed open.

These protective measures are necessary because the discounter has to be treated very strictly because of the sometimes permanently running ventilation or the delivery traffic in the early morning hours.

For the construction, the noise protection wall had to be partially dismantled and stored until it was re-erected after the house was built.
