Queen Elizabeth II has criticized world leaders for their reluctance to act on the climate crisis.
She was "irritated" by those who "talk but not act," said the British Queen on the sidelines of the opening of the Welsh Parliament in Cardiff.
The statement was not an official statement by the Queen, but comes from a joint conversation with MPs Elin Jones and Duchess Camilla.
The conversation could be heard in the livestream for the opening of parliament.
"We only know about those who do not come"
In her criticism, the Queen referred to the UN climate conference COP26, which will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, at the end of October.
She heard a lot about the conference, but still didn't know who was coming.
"We only know of those who do not come," said Queen Elizabeth II of leading politicians who had already canceled their participation.
The world climate conference COP26 in Glasgow is considered an important milestone for international climate policy. Agreements from the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015 are to be reaffirmed - in addition, the concrete further implementation of the agreement is to be discussed. In addition to the Queen, Prince William, Duchess Kate and William's father Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla have announced themselves.
It was only on Thursday that Prince William called for more commitment to climate protection.
On the occasion of the recent space flight of Amazon boss Jeff Bezos' space company Blue Origin, William said there are "fundamental questions" about the CO₂ emissions of flights into space.
Finding solutions to climate change is more important than looking for habitable planets in space, says Prince William.
"The brightest minds in the world should focus on fixing this planet instead of trying to find the next place to go to live," the prince told the BBC.
