The prosecutor of the Republic of Versailles had requested an 18-month suspended sentence against the companion of Jean-Paul Guerlain, accused of "neglect of a person unable to protect himself". She was totally acquitted by the court.

After fifteen long years of legal battle, the deliberation of the trial of the companion of perfumer Jean-Paul Guerlain, prosecuted for "neglect of a person unable to protect himself" and "harassment" took place this Monday, October 18 at the Criminal Court of Versailles.

Two clans, that of the son and that of the companion of the famous nose, have been opposed for several years concerning the conditions of custody of the patriarch, suffering from a form of Alzheimer's.

Last September, the prosecutor of the Republic of Versailles Philippe Toccanier had requested against Christina Kragh 18 months in prison with probationary suspension and ban from coming into contact with Jean-Paul Guerlain, ban from residing in "La Vallée", the domain of perfumer, and obligation to compensate victims.

She was totally relaxed.

"A false trial"

"

The objective was to keep Christina Kragh away from Jean-Paul Guerlain while she was taking care of him 24 hours a day. The string was a little thick, and the court did not fall for the trap

Me Frédéric Bélot, the defendant's lawyer. Accused of "harassment" by the housekeeper of Jean-Paul Guerlain, the latter's companion was released "

on the grounds that this offense is linked to a gold employer, he is the son of Jean-Paul Guerlain, and no Christina Kragh, who employs Madame M.

”, explains Me Pascal Koerfer, lawyer for Stéphane Guerlain, the perfumer's son.

Regarding the accusations of "neglect of a person unable to protect themselves", the court considered that Christina Kragh "

never had the clear will to abandon Mr. Jean-Paul Guerlain, even if she obstructed treatment

" , adds Me Koerfer, stressing that "

the aim was not to send Madame Kragh to prison, but to prevent her from coming into contact with Mr. Jean-Paul Guerlain

". The specialist in property law also adds that he wishes to appeal and “

demand measures to protect Mr. Stéphane Guerlain

”.

For the defense, this trial was "

clearly a stunt

". "

I take as proof what the court emphasized today orally: the offenses that were charged against my client did not hold water and the court said it followed the legal arguments of the defense

", insists Me Bélot, stressing that Christina Kragh was not married to Jean-Paul Guerlain, and therefore has "

no custody obligation

". “

It's called a mock trial. The real victim is Christina Kragh and Jean-Paul Guerlain,

”concludes the lawyer.

But the legal battle is far from over: Christina Kragh and her lawyer cited Stéphane Guerlain for "violence, death threats and harassment".

The hearing will take place on January 17, 2022.
