Indian Foreign Minister Subermaniyam Jayshenkar visited the Jerusalem Forest this morning (Monday) and attended a ceremony by the Jewish National Fund, which unveiled a sign left by an Indian delegation planting trees there in 1960.
During the ceremony, the Indian minister and his wife took two stones from the Jerusalem mountains as a souvenir.
The minister said that he would keep one stone in his house in Delhi and that he would return the other stone on his next visit to Israel.
Roni Winikov, Director of the JNF's Resource Division, commented on the incident and said: "At a time when the world is facing a growing threat, the JNF sees India as a critical partner in the fight against climate change and hopes to work with it in mutual cooperation and technological entrepreneurship to save generations.
