The Harz National Park warns of visits to the forest in the coming days.
"Due to the stormy weather there is an acute danger to life and limb in the forest because branches fall down or even trees can be uprooted," said Friedhart Knolle, national park spokesman in Wernigerode.
"During the storm and also in the first few days afterwards, you should definitely not visit the forest."
Wernigerode - Even in the course of Tuesday, stormy gusts or gusts of wind can be expected in exposed locations in the Harz Mountains.
On Wednesday, according to the spokesman, heavy squalls to gale-force gusts are likely on exposed peaks and the wind is expected to increase further on Thursday night.
