Some 80% of young people killed in Brazil in violent situations between 2016 and 2020 were black, according to a survey released Friday, October 22, which also sounded the alarm on the rise in the number of children aged 0 to 4 who had died in domestic violence.
In addition, according to the survey by Unicef and the Brazilian Public Security Forum (FBSP) established according to police reports from the 27 states of the country, 178,277 children and adolescents were victims of sexual violence between 2017 and 2020, that's five per hour.
About 80% of them were girls aged 10 to 14.
2016 figures were not available for all states.

In the period from 2016 to 2020, 34,918 deaths of children and young people aged 0 to 19 in violent situations were recorded in the country.
Of this total, more than 31,000 were adolescents aged 15 to 19, of which 25,592, or 80%, black or mestizo, mostly killed by firearms.
