But quality of life is not for free.

600,000 euros for the new Riviera is quite a lot of money.

Sure, funding can still be applied for, but the question remains: does it really have to be that much?

Isn't that cheaper?

Because, as is well known, the financial possibilities of the district town have been quite clear for many years.

And in view of the many compulsory tasks and ongoing projects - just think of the renovation of the monastery, middle school and outdoor pool as well as bridge and road construction - the redesign of the Riviera represents an avoidable additional burden. And yet there are good reasons to go this way.

The recent corona lockdown in particular has shown how important it is to have recreational opportunities close to home.

The climate discussion with the demand for less individual traffic is added to this.

The green space is an offer that every citizen of this city can use in his or her own way - without having to pay admission.

Of course, the compulsory tasks have priority because they are essential to daily life.

But streets and buildings are not the only things that are vital in the city.

The quality of life also includes this green oasis in the middle of the city, which is a treasure with its location alone.

And such a thing also needs to be cared for.

It would be fatal, however, if the planning were to get started with public participation, only to be postponed again in the budget deliberations.
