The late writer Sayah al-Juhaim’s rich career as a translator, critic, and educator, full of gifts and literary and educational achievements that left positive effects on generations of intellectuals, educators, students and researchers, formed the focus of a symposium organized by the Translation Association of the Arab Writers Union in cooperation with the Syrian General Book Authority in As-Suwayda today.

The symposium, which was held at the Writers Union headquarters in As-Suwayda, comes according to the head of the union branch, the writer Wijdan Abu Mahmoud, in remembrance of the path of the writer Al-Juhaym and in honor of his contributions as a contemporary literary figure who left his imprints enlightening literary, educational and cultural.

The speech of the Director of the General Book Authority, Dr. Thaer Zain Al-Din, delivered on his behalf by the Director of the Media Office in the Authority, Salam Fadel, dealt with personal meetings with the writer Jahim who benefited from them in his cultural work and writings and how his name was launched on the stage of the Arab Cultural Center in As-Suwayda in 2006, pointing out that Al-Juhaym presented more than forty books that enriched an important aspect of our culture, and he was a scholar of storytelling techniques, equipped with a vast repertoire of knowledge and a wide culture of modernity, and was skilled in translating poetry and criticism.

A member of the Executive Office of the Writers Union, Riad Tabra, recalled as one of his students the social, political and cultural conditions that surrounded the al-Juhaym writer, his gifts as an educator, his activity and his style, which made him a milestone in teaching the Arabic language, his students’ love for him, his good impact on his society in general, and his cultural and cognitive legacy.

The Rapporteur of the Translation Association in the Writers Union, Dr. Mamdouh Abu Al-Wali, spoke about the books translated and written by the writer Al-Juhaym, and his style and critical approach, which was distinguished by originality, depth and erudition.

While the editor-in-chief of “Cultural Bridges” magazine, issued by the Ministry of Culture, Husam Khaddour, praised the style and accuracy that distinguished the writer Juhaym as a translator through his translation from an intermediate language, as he transferred to Arabic a group of works from French, which in turn is translated from immortal works in Russian literature despite what is surrounded Intermediate language translation of global etiquette, especially the creative ones.

Both researchers and writers, Dr. Fendi Abu Fakhr and Muhammad Tarabieh, who were students of Al-Juhaym, pointed out his keenness to plant and spread cultural, renaissance, enlightenment and deep patriotic thought and his zeal for serious cultural activity and movement in society.

The works of "Tolstoy", "Aragon", "Alain Touraine", "Andre Richard", "Bertolt Brecht", "Jacques de Surcher" and others. He also authored several books in literary criticism, including "Khalil Bishop the Poet" and "Rambo, the poet of youth and modernity." and "Features of Hanna Mina" and others.
