On Monday, Syria accused Israel of attacking in the south of the country in the early morning hours, and warned that it was "reserving" the right to respond. The official SANA news agency quoted Foreign Ministry official in Damascus, did not specify which targets were attacked or if there were casualties. Israel has not responded to the accusations came after Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi last weekend.

Source forces supporting the regime Bashar Assad told Reuters that an Israeli UAV attacked several sites, including a Hezbollah base in the city of Ba'ath in the Quneitra district near the Golan Heights and a surveillance tower near a Syrian army base. The Syrian Organization for Human Rights, which is following the war from Britain, reported that an Israeli plane fired two missiles at two military sites of Syrian government forces and its allies. The organization reported damage caused during the attack, but noted that no casualties were reported.

Israel has been routinely attacking Syria since the outbreak of its civil war a decade ago, and it is trying to prevent Iran from establishing itself across the border and transferring advanced weapons to Hezbollah.

It is forced to coordinate its moves with Russia, Assad's ally whose intervention in the 2015 conflict has tipped the scales in his favor.
