That didn't happen to her again.

Dachau - The 26-year-old witness experienced sexual assault as a seventh grader, but said nothing at the time.

The Munich resident had decided to act differently, should something like that happen to her again.

In May of this year she was touched in the genital area by a stranger in passing - and called the police.

Yesterday, a 20-year-old Nigerian from Hebertshausen was on trial for sexual assault.

The young woman had visited the McDonald's restaurant on Stachus with two friends.

When leaving the shop at the side entrance, it happened: The refugee, who has lived in Germany since 2019, and a friend narrowed the already narrow entrance and exit, the victim reported in court.

“In a moment of surprise” he touched her genital area.

"I threw my hand away and shouted 'Hey' loudly," said the 26-year-old.

She screamed: "Do that again in the presence of the police!" There was a commotion: three courageous men stood protectively in front of the three women.

The police were alerted.

The perpetrator tried to escape, but the friends followed him on the instructions of the police - until he was caught.

Sleepless nights, powerless and humiliated

In court, the young woman explained how she felt after the incident: She had sleepless nights, felt powerless and humiliated - and blamed herself for the sexual coercion.

The accused showed little emotion.

He described a different version in court: he only pulled the victim by the jacket to ask for money, as his interpreter announced.

He only fled out of fear of the eyes of the people and the "angry" victim.

According to the police, the 20-year-old was under the influence of alcohol during the act: 1.4 per mille were detected at the time.

The defendant, who has a previous conviction for two crimes of bodily harm and damage to property, was sentenced to one week's arrest, and he is also required to complete social skills training.

Since the perpetrator had to go through a difficult escape experience and was therefore awarded a certain delay in maturity, juvenile criminal law still applied to the 19-year-old at the time of the offense.
