The SPD, Greens and FDP are currently discussing the formation of a traffic light coalition under Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Little is known from the discussions of the working groups.

Now Baden-Württemberg's Transport Minister Winfried Hermann (Greens) has expressed his displeasure with the progress made in the coalition negotiations.

"What I hear doesn't sound so good," Hermann told the Süddeutsche Zeitung.

The three parties are still quite far apart on questions about transport, but also on other issues such as climate protection.

On the subject of traffic, for example, there are "simply too many points that have not been agreed in the papers."

"I think that all sides have to make it clear again: If we don't get together on climate protection in the next few days, there is a risk of new elections," warned Hermann.

"Nobody can want that."

"Weak Formulations"

A central conflict issue in the negotiations is the question of how the climate plans are to be financed and also socially cushioned. Above all, Hermann asked the FDP to be more committed to climate protection. "If you do not want to abolish subsidies, reject a speed limit and do not want a ban on combustion, you have to put other proposals on the table that lead to a reduction in greenhouse gases in traffic," said Hermann. "I expect that from responsible negotiators."

The 22 working groups with members from the SPD, Greens and FDP should work out their positions by Wednesday.

Hermann said that he lacked the imagination as to how the disagreed points in the papers could be eliminated in such a short time.

The state minister brought an extension of the talks into play.

"We should rather negotiate well and, if necessary, a few days longer than agree to false compromises or weak formulations in the coalition agreement."

Baerbock believes that the talks can be extended

The party leader of the Greens, Annalena Baerbock, had already expressed her dissatisfaction with the progress made in the negotiations.

In addition to climate protection, she mentioned the modernization of administration and school policy.

With regard to the intended coalition agreement, Baerbock said: “We cannot yet say when it will be finished, because at central construction sites we cannot yet see that we can say that we are finished.

This renewal of the country should take effect in the next four years.

And now four days more or less do not matter in the talks. "

Vice-President of the Greens, Oliver Krischer, one of the chairmen of the Climate, Energy, Transformation working group, was confident on Sunday in the ARD program »Report from Berlin«.

"Most of the questions will be resolved in these working groups.

That worked in the past.

We can do that now, too, ”said Krischer.
