The value of compensation for the second batch of fire damages distributed by the Lattakia Agriculture Directorate since the beginning of this month until the end of last week amounted to more than 2.752 billion Syrian pounds.

The Director of Lattakia Agriculture, Basem Doba, explained to SANA reporter that this amount is part of the total compensation value of the second batch amounting to 6.405 billion Syrian pounds, as the compensation has so far included 8931 farmers in 59 villages, stressing that the distribution process continues according to a specific time schedule.

Doba indicated that about 1,900 billion pounds were distributed in the Qardaha area, benefiting 5603 farmers in 19 villages, and more than 1.997 billion pounds, 1224 farmers in 28 villages in the countryside of Jableh, about 295 million pounds for 1114 farmers in 7 villages in the countryside of Al-Haffa, and about 356 million pounds for 990 farmers in 5 villages in Lattakia region.

It is noteworthy that the compensation for the second batch is equivalent to 25 percent of the full compensation set for farmers affected by the fires that broke out in the governorate on October 9 and 10 last year, where 50 percent of it was distributed last year, with the third and final payment to be distributed next year.
