If you want to go to Austria, you have to meet stricter criteria according to the new 2.5G rule (vaccinated, genetic or PCR-tested).
The corona entry rules are being tightened for commuters: Unvaccinated commuters must present negative PCR test results, which are only valid for 72 hours (previously one week).
Rapid tests are only valid for 24 hours instead of 48 hours for commuters.
And in addition: The validity of the vaccination certificate is shortened.
Vaccination certificates are no longer valid for one year in Austria, but only for nine months.
Austria on the RKI list of high risk areas
Germany has classified almost all of Austria as corona high-risk areas.
This has been in effect since Sunday, November 14th, 2021. Exceptions are Mittelberg / Kleinwalsertal and Jungholz and the Riss valley in the municipal area of Vomp and Eben am Achensee.
When returning from Austria to Germany, there is a 10-day quarantine obligation, from which you can take off on the fifth day at the earliest.
Vaccinated and convalescents are exempt from the test and quarantine obligation.
The number of infections in Austria has been increasing for weeks.
A nationwide lockdown applies to those who have not been vaccinated.
