On Shabbat we read in the synagogue the Parashat Vayishlach, in which the Torah tells us about the confrontation of Yaakov Avinu with his brother Eisav. Rebbe Rabbi Josiah Pinto explains how it is seen in the parsha that man should have great faith and confidence in Gd, and then he will not worry and be afraid of anything.

And so Rabbi Pinto wrote:

We find in this week's Torah portion, "And Jacob was very afraid and distressed" and we need to understand what this means, so our holy rabbis say so and Jacob was afraid why Jacob was afraid, because he was afraid, because he had sorrow in his heart. And the meaning of things, when a person has a lack of faith in Gd and there are things that cause him fear or sorrow in the heart, it shows the person's weakness in confidence in Gd.

If a person believes and has strong confidence in Gd, nothing in the world should worry him, nothing in the world should cause him sorrow in the heart. So there is nothing to fear. If there is anyone who mourns him there is nothing to be sad about, because every man is a servant of mercy to a good servant. So Jacob our father was in fear because he had sorrow in his heart, and he realized that for his status it was a lack of faith in Gd.

One needs to know a great foundation in life, one should have a strong faith, be with great confidence in Gd, and not be sad in any matter, because all that Gd does is for good, if a person has something he is afraid of it is a lack of faith, if He has something that saddens him is a lack of faith. A person should have the greatest faith and confidence in Gd, and this is what the Holy Torah says "If a war arises over me, I trust in it" (Psalm 27: 3) Because if he is afraid and sorry it shows a lack of faith and confidence in God.

It is known what Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin says in his book Nefesh HaChaim (Chapter 3, Chapter Twelve) A great foundation and great virtue to be saved from all evil, And the problems of the world. As great as faith and confidence are in Gd, there is no problem and trouble that can be faced and come upon man.

Once he receives upon himself the yoke of the most powerful kingdom of heaven, man is saved from all evil.

There is an act in which there is a great morality from our Rabbi Hatam Sofer who was a holy of holies, it is said that one night our Rabbi Hatam Sofer called his Gabay and told him to go and call the head of the Jewish community. When the head of the community came, the undersigned scribe told him, you will know that the governor of the city has a signed letter in a drawer, a decree to do evil and great trouble to the Jews to throw them out and do difficult things. Go now quickly to the governor of the city, talk to him and try to get him to cut the decree.

The head of the community told him, in the middle of the night to go to the governor of the city is not acceptable, the governor of the city will be angry with us and only harm and evil will come out of it, we should not go. The undersigned scribe said to him, I command you by the power of a rabbi to go now to the governor of the city and talk to him that the decree be lowered. The head of the community with no choice, took with him two more respectable people and walked towards the governor's house. Reached the river bank and looked for a boat to cross the river, the governor was living on the other side of the river, not finding.

Went and knocked on the house of one of the fishermen, told him please take us to the other side of the river. That fisherman got up angry and started yelling you woke me up from sleeping, started cursing and cursing them. They told him take a lot of money and transfer us, he agreed. He put them on the boat and started to lead them to the other side, the boat was full of the bad smell of fish, and they tried that the smell would not stick to them until they arrived.

When they came down at the other end, there were guard policemen shouting at them what are you doing here, the head of the community told them it is a public space, I have the right to go here. Shouts started and the governor woke up, asked who was shouting downstairs, told him three Jews who had come and wanted to meet you, the governor said put them in. The governor asked his aides to bring him milk, they brought him to drink and the governor brought them too. They told him they could not drink because it was Acre milk.

The governor told them, "Explain to me what is the milk of Acre," they told him, "The milk of Acre. Understand what cow's milk is and can be an offense. The governor told them there is no such thing, call the person working in the kitchen we asked him, I only serve cow's milk. We brought milk from her, we brought milk from Naka. Immediately that governor understood the things and saw the providence from Gd, your Torah told them truth and you are truth, now tell me why you came here. Our Rabbi, the undersigned scribe, told us that there was a harsh decree in your drawer against the Jews, told them how you know, stood up and revoked the decree.

Our holy rabbis say that one should learn a great foundation, a person should be in great innocence in Gd, without thoughts and without matters. To them and say, go at night is an unreasonable and incomprehensible thing in the middle of the night to go to cancel a decree, should go at a convenient time and find ways what to do. savior.

When a person walks in innocence, "Jacob was very afraid and made him" Jacob was afraid because he had sorrow in his heart, Jacob our father saw that he regretted lack of faith and confidence in Gd, so he was in great pain. When a person walks in great innocence and confidence in Gd "also For I will walk in the valley of the shadow of death. He has nothing to worry about because God is with him.
