This is what you should know about the complex extradition of Hugo "El Pollo" Carvajal 4:11
(CNN Spanish) -
The Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office of Spain has considered the guarantees offered by the US justice "sufficient" to extradite Hugo "Pollo" Carvajal, according to a legal source informed CNN.
These guarantees include rejecting the prior request of the National Court that the former head of the Venezuelan Military Intelligence Directorate not be sentenced to life imprisonment, although it adds that Carvajal may request a review of his sentence to obtain a lesser sentence or even a pardon, according to what his lawyer María Dolores de Argüelles told CNN.
The Prosecutor's Office has already informed the Third Section of the Criminal Chamber of the National High Court of its decision, but the defense of the former Venezuelan official has yet to be informed, who confirmed that he had not yet received the notification.
Even so, Argüelles assured that when they receive it they will present allegations.
