Sri Lankan President Gotapai Rajapaksa announced an agreement with Russia to share intelligence and cooperate in combating terrorist financing.
"We agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in the fight against extremism, terrorism and cyber threats, including the exchange of intelligence information and the fight against terrorist financing," RIA Novosti quoted Rajapaksa as saying after talks with Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev.
Earlier, the press office of the Russian Security Council reported that Patrushev and Rajapaksa discussed in detail the state and prospects for the development of Russian-Sri Lankan relations in the political, trade, economic and energy fields, as well as prospects for cooperation in the field of security.
