Since Wednesday, only those who have been vaccinated, those who have recovered and those who have tested negative have been allowed to travel on public buses and trains.

The question now arises for transport companies as to how they should monitor compliance with this 3G rule.

District - Andreas Päschel heads the West branch of Regionalverkehr Oberbayern GmbH (RVO) in Tegernsee, which is responsible for the districts of Miesbach and Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. In this question, he refers to the position of the regional association of Bavarian bus operators (LBO), of which the RVO is a member. "From the LBO's point of view, the control must be interpreted as a sovereign task and thus reserved for the authorities such as the police and the public order office," Päschel said when asked. In addition, checks could at most be carried out as part of random ticket controls. They carry out a control service. "The drivers are there for the punctuality and safety of the passengers and not to control the 3G rule."

According to Päschel, passengers are obliged to provide relevant evidence upon request. A negative rapid test, which must not be older than 24 hours when starting the journey, is sufficient for those who have not been vaccinated and those who have not recovered. Students are exempt from the 3G rule, as they are tested in schools.

On request, Annette Luckner, press spokeswoman for the Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB), reports that the customer advisors only carry out random checks.

“We can't do more at the moment.” Support from the police or regulatory agencies has not yet been given.

"We're on our own here," said Luckner.

As reported, the BRB had been critical of the introduction of the 3G rule in buses and trains in advance.

Anyone caught in the bus or train without appropriate proof can expect a fine of up to 2500 euros.
