Damascus-SANA
Celebrating the late plastic artist Ghazi Al-Khalidi and his creative experience has become a cornerstone in the activities of the Syrian Culture Days, because of the late’s effective contributions at the creative, educational, educational and research levels.
The Ghazi Al-Khalidi Forum for Fine Art, hosted by the Arab Cultural Center in Kafr Sousa, opened with an artistic and literary symposium that began with the speech of the artist’s friends to the plastic artist, Dr. Mohamed Ghannoum, who indicated that the artist Al-Khalidi, who was standing as an outlet for large paintings and murals and participating in exhibitions, is also a media and art critic who provides analyzes of local and international experiences as he performed his job. Aptly as a leader and head of the Art Office in the Vanguard of the Baath.
According to Ghannoum, Al-Khalidi's prolific artistic experience went beyond drama, and he was one of the first actors with Duraid Lahham and the artists of that period.
The poet Jamal Al-Masry shared a poem in which he sang about the Levant, its resurrection, and its creators, especially Nizar Qabbani, in which he said, “He who is not satisfied with the Levant is beloved.. He needs an eye for the Levant to be reproached… I will keep running in the streets screaming.. Damascus has risen, so will Nizar rise.”
A documentary film was shown under the title The Artist of Man and the Nation, which dealt with the biography of Al-Khalidi, who graduated from the schools of Damascus and whose talent was encouraged by his mother and was apprenticed by senior artists to join the College of Fine Arts in Cairo, then obtain a doctorate in art sciences from the Royal Academy in London and is a member of the Board of Directors of the World Federation For plastic artists in the European Union on the Middle East since 1994, he became a professor of aesthetics at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Art, then was nominated for the UNESCO Prize in 1992.
The activities of the first day of the forum were concluded by a band of arts for calligraphy, drawing and music, led by artist Hassan Khalil Al-Nay, who played and sang a group of patriotic and emotional songs.
