The Directorate of Agriculture in Lattakia expected that the governorate's production of citrus fruits for this year would reach 563,666 tons for this year.
Engineer Qais Ghazal, head of the Department of Fruitful Trees in the Directorate of Agriculture in Lattakia, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the total number of citrus trees planted in Lattakia Governorate is 1,1094518, including 106,24945 fruit trees, while the area planted with citrus reached 32,470 hectares.
According to Engineer Rami Saleh, Head of Marketing Department at the Syrian Trade Establishment, more than 200 tons have been marketed so far through Syria.
Mays Shehadeh, Marketing Director of the Directorate of Agriculture, explained that the quantity of citrus exports outside the country is not less than 10,000 tons, according to the 49 sorting and packaging centers in the governorate, which operate under the supervision of the directorate, while the real export quantities are greater than that.
