More than 30 male and female students started their first semester at the College of Health Sciences - specializing in radiotherapy and diagnostics.

The specialization of radiotherapy and diagnostics at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Damascus was created by the decision of the Higher Education Council to create specializations for therapeutic diagnosis and radiotherapy in the faculties of health sciences with the aim of graduating qualified specialists and providing the medical sector with expert cadres that keep pace with development and complement the work team in medical diagnosis and oncology treatment.

The creation of the specialty of radiology treatment and diagnosis is one of the most important achievements of the national plan for cancer control for the year 2021, which aims in general to raise the level of cancer control in Syria under the supervision of Mrs. Not least, the opening of a stem cell and blood cell transplantation center at the Children's Hospital in Damascus, and preparations to launch a campaign for early detection of three types of cancers.

The specialization of radiotherapy and diagnosis is very necessary at the current stage, as it will contribute to supplying hospitals and tumor centers with efficient and highly experienced cadres, especially since a large part of the treatment of cancer and chronic diseases currently depends on radiotherapy, in addition to the presence of graduates from this department in the future it is possible To be a nucleus for developing the reality of radiotherapy in Syria.

Also, graduating scientific academics with a specialization in health sciences - diagnosis and radiotherapy, means graduating cadres capable of understanding the mechanism and causes of cancer and the use of modern technologies and devices that are involved in its treatment, especially with the shortage of cadres in this specialty and the urgent need for the presence of academic and expert cadres.
