Murder and disappearance cases from the 1990s: The police announced today (Thursday) that they intend to release, under restrictive conditions, three of the suspects arrested in the case, including Eliezer Berland, head of the Shuvu Banim community, who linked himself to the murder earlier this month.
Berland will return to prison, where he is serving a previous prison sentence for fraudulent offenses.
Along with him will be released his son-in-law Zvi Zucker, and the mayor whose name is currently banned from publication.
In addition, the police will today file a prosecutor's statement against Baruch Sharvit, who is suspected of killing Sheetrit.
The reason for their release from custody is probably the failure of the police to prove their involvement in the murder, and also due to the fact that the other offenses are statute-barred.
