A Freissinger was not in the mood for being spoiled for choice: If you follow the evidence on Friday in front of the regional court, she was sometimes sympathetic to one suitor, sometimes she gave her favor to the other.

The cockfight reached its climax on May 1st in a Freising car park: According to the indictment, one of the men was beaten up and relieved of valuables and cash with a total value of around 12,250 euros.

The other has been in custody since then and has to answer to the sixth criminal chamber for serious robbery, dangerous bodily harm and insults.

At the beginning of the trial, the 35-year-old Freisinger rejected the allegations: he had been lured into a trap by his rival. When presiding judge Ralph Reiter asked about jealousy as a possible motive for the crime, he said there are so many women - "and I am a beautiful man".

According to the prosecutor Matthias Zweck's indictment, the victim had just got out of his car around 9:30 p.m. when he saw his ex's current boyfriend and a stranger approaching. The men put a blanket over his head and insulted him. The stranger held him tight. The defendant pulled his head and asked his accomplice to take money and valuables from the injured party. Then he pressed his rival's head on a hood and hit the right side of his face three or four times with his fist. The stranger also hit the Freising man on the back of his thighs with an iron bar. Eventually, the men took off their victim's jacket, which contained other valuables, and took a laptop with them from the victim's car.

As a criminal investigation officer reported in court, the investigators were able to locate the victim's cell phone, which was also lost in the attack, in the defendant's brother's apartment. Freising, who had not appeared under criminal law to date, took note of this fact without comment. It was clear to him that the victim was intriguing to win back his ex-girlfriend. The 35-year-old said he had received anonymous messages that day - with the note that his girlfriend would meet his rival in the parking lot that evening. After she had already lied to him several times, he set out: “I finally wanted clarity.” On site, he met the injured party and other people. The injured party insulted and threatened him. But he remained calm.He only pushed back once after the injured party had physically attacked him several times. “When I left, he was still unharmed.” When the judge pointed out that an uninvolved witness saw two men beating a third person, Freinger said: “That is not my version. That's the truth."

The 35-year-old was reluctant to admit that he had had contact with the injured party before the incident. A chat between the men certainly shows jealousy on the part of the defendant. It only wanted to collect debts that the injured party still had with his girlfriend. And of course he pointed out to him that he should finally leave her alone. Somehow his girlfriend couldn't manage it herself. Reiter wanted to know whether the gifts that the injured party had made to his ex "played a certain role". The defendant preferred to speak of himself: He is more of the type for whom there is nothing more beautiful than a sunset.

His conclusion when it comes to love: He may look good and wear a great suit in court, but “the heart is important”.

The process will continue on Wednesday.
