Today, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Hama, laboratories for hydraulics, building materials and the environment were opened, in addition to an amphitheater that can accommodate 200 students, with the aim of serving students in their studies.

After being briefed on the new laboratories at the university, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, toured the university hospital and inspected the completion processes of the auditoriums and halls of the Faculty of Human Medicine attached to the hospital, which reached 60 percent, in addition to reviewing the final stages of the rehabilitation of the university presidency building, which will be put into service soon after Securing the necessary office equipment.

The President of Hama University, Dr. Muhammad Ziyad Sultan, said in a statement to SANA delegate that the goal of the hospital project is to provide support for the teaching process of the Faculty of Human Medicine and to qualify its students clinically and practically through terraces that can accommodate more than 1,100 students. It can also be used as a center for medical conferences, pointing to work to support the therapeutic services system And the health care center in Hama by receiving patients and auditors in the hospital’s outpatient clinics, providing ambulatory services, surgeries, and in-patient accommodation, as the hospital has a capacity of 170 beds and is expandable to 210 beds.

This was followed by a meeting of the Higher Education Office at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Hama, in which the members of the commission focused on the need to support small projects and address the fuel shortage and electricity cuts in university cities, with an emphasis on ending the outstanding problems between the Syndicate Council and Aleppo University regarding investments and the teachers’ retirement treasury.

The interventions also dealt with the necessity of solving the problem of losing university identification papers for students of Al-Furat University, reconsidering the issue of symmetric transfer in universities, canceling the single list of subjects and their independence in each university, and reviewing the law of university hospitals.

During the meeting, the Minister of Higher Education reviewed the reality of universities’ work and the latest developments in this regard, including the events of the Faculty of Geomatics Engineering at Tishreen University and the Department of Radiological Diagnostics at Damascus University and the opening of 5 new specializations for postgraduate studies at Al-Baath University, pointing out that there are tireless efforts to improve the university classification.

Minister Ibrahim indicated that there are 7,200 job opportunities with the ministry, which have been coordinated with the Ministry of Administrative Development, explaining that the ministry is in the process of setting standards to approximate the values ​​of faculty members' wages between public universities and their private counterparts.

A member of the central leadership of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Head of the Higher Education Office, Dr. Mohsen Bilal, and the Governor of Hama, Muhammad Tariq Krishati, and Secretary of the Hama Branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Ashraf Bachouri, participated in the tour.
