Saxony-Anhalt is still the state with the third highest corona incidence.

For this reason, among other things, those who have been boosted must continue to be tested if a 2G plus concept applies.

The same goes for shopping at 2G.

Magdeburg - Saxony-Anhalt will not do without additional tests for vaccinated people with a booster vaccination for the time being.

"We have decided not to implement the health minister's resolution for the time being, stating that those who have been boosted no longer need to be tested," said Health Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) on Friday at the German Press Agency in Magdeburg.

“The incidences in Saxony-Anhalt are currently too high.

According to scientific knowledge, even those who are boosted can still be contagious and transmit the virus.

We should also take this into account against the background of the new Omikron variant, ”explained Grimm-Benne.

On Friday, the Robert Koch Institute gave the incidence at just under 700;

only Thuringia and Saxony have higher values.

Nationwide, the average is 331.8 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and seven days.

On Tuesday, the federal and state governments agreed on the elimination of compulsory testing for boosters after some states were already doing this.

Specifically, it is about corona rules based on the 2G plus model - i.e. if an additional test is required for access only for vaccinated and convalescent people (2G).

According to Grimm-Benne, the cabinet should adopt the new state corona ordinance on Monday by circulation.

Nothing should change in the 2G regulation for the retail trade - not even after this regulation was overturned by the Lüneburg Higher Administrative Court in Lower Saxony.

"We have a very high incidence, which is why we implemented the MPK resolution to introduce 2G in retail - like the other federal states," emphasized the minister.

Should the regulation in Saxony-Anhalt be overturned in court, this would have to be incorporated into the state ordinance.

"At the moment we are saying that this regulation is also part of the catalog of measures to contain the corona pandemic and must be implemented."

Wernigerode's Mayor Peter Gaffert (independent) called for easing for customers in retail stores.

“I am concerned about the current situation in retail.

We have to do everything to ensure that the dealers can still expect reasonably tolerable sales after these difficult weeks and months, ”said the local politician.

In normal years, the Christmas business accounts for almost 50 percent of total annual sales.

The economic policy spokesman for the AfD parliamentary group, Matthias Lieschke, said with a view to the decision of the Lüneburg Higher Administrative Court: “I hope that this ruling will not only be noticed in Saxony-Anhalt, but that our state government will recognize that it has to take corrective action quickly.

This would be a real Christmas present for retailers. ”Dpa
