Update from December 23, 7:27 p.m.:

Now it is fixed: The regular compulsory test at Bavaria's schools also applies again to vaccinated and recovered pupils after the holidays.

This emerges from the changed corona regulation of the Bavarian Ministry of Health from Thursday.

So far, students who have been double-vaccinated have been exempt from the regular test requirement - namely three times a week.

Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) had already promised the new regulation, but the formal decision was still pending.

With the amended ordinance, the ministry is also implementing the federal-state decision on contact restrictions after Christmas, as announced: From December 28, only a maximum of ten vaccinated and convalescent people may meet privately - this applies to private gatherings outside of the catering trade. If there is only one unvaccinated person there, stricter contact rules apply anyway: Then only meetings of members of one household with a maximum of two members of another household are allowed.

As a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday evening, children under 14 years of age are excluded from the count, as agreed in the federal-state resolution. This means a certain relaxation for Bavaria: So far, only children up to the age of twelve years and three months have been excluded from the count. You can find an overview of the current corona rules for Bavaria in this article.

Update from December 23, 4:29 p.m.:

The Regensburg Administrative

Court

* has granted the application of the owner of a fashion store not to have to adhere to the 2G rule. The textile business serves to cover daily needs *, the court provisionally determined on Thursday in an urgent decision. The decision only applies to the applicant's shop. The court did not question the 2G rule of the regulation, but rather its implementation in individual cases.

The supply of suitable clothing serves to cover individual needs, which can arise at any time and therefore on a daily basis.

Growing children could need clothing, adults could also need warm clothing in winter, according to the judges.

The court did not see that the need for bookshops or flower shops, which are excluded from the 2G rule in the ordinance, are of greater importance and urgency.

An appeal against the urgent decision is possible at the Bavarian Administrative Court

The number of corona deaths rose sharply in the past month

Update from December 23, 11:03 a.m.:

The corona incidence in Bavaria continues to fall. If it was 255.6 on Wednesday, the RKI reported a value of 246 on Thursday. This means that the Free State is further below the German average of 280.3. Within 24 hours, 5,881 people were newly infected with the corona virus. The Coburg district has the highest incidence value in Bavaria at 561.4. At 206.8, Munich is still below the Bavarian average. A total of 71 people have died with or from Covid-19 since yesterday.

While the number of infections, incidences and hospital occupancy have all declined, the fourth wave has taken a huge toll.

Almost 10,000 people across Germany fell victim to the virus within a month.

A total of 109,749 infected people have died nationwide since the pandemic began.

It was not until November 25 that the death toll exceeded 100,000.

In Bavaria alone, 2,235 people have died of the virus in the past four weeks, according to the RKI.

Bavaria's Minister of Education, Piazolo, assumes that schools will also be open in the event of an Omikron wave

Update from December 23, 7:38 a.m.:

The schools in Bavaria could stay open even during a hard lockdown because of the Omikron variant.

"Face-to-face teaching is and will remain the top priority," said Minister of Education Michael Piazolo (Free Voters) in an interview with the German Press Agency in Munich immediately before the last day of school before the Christmas break on Thursday.

The minister cited three reasons in favor of maintaining learning in school buildings: “Firstly, to ensure the educational mandate and the right to education, secondly because schools are a place of social encounters and thirdly, because of the high safety standards and especially have helped flatten the last waves by testing in schools.

Studies have shown that too. "

Bavaria's schools open even with a tough corona lockdown?

"Always reassess the situation"

Therefore, according to the minister, it would have been counterproductive so far to close the schools again.

A final decision could not be made in view of the unpredictable developments in the pandemic, emphasized Piazolo.

"Of course you always have to reassess the situation when things develop anew."

Update from December 22nd, 5:16 p.m.:

The number of vaccinations continues to rise in the Free State.

In the past week, more than 1.1 million people in Bavaria were immunized.

Health Minister Holetschek announced this in Munich on Wednesday.

That is around 66,000 more vaccinations than the week before.

Much of the vaccinations - about 900,000 - were boosters.

According to Stiko's recommendation on Tuesday, you can now get a boost after three months instead of six.

Anyone who wants to get a booster vaccination in the vaccination centers after this new deadline can do so, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Health.

So far, around 40 percent of adults in Bavaria have received booster vaccinations.

According to the Ministry of Health, the number of weekly first vaccinations in Bavaria has recently increased again - from just under 83,000 at the beginning of December to more than 100,000 in the past week.

It is possible that the willingness to vaccinate will decrease again due to public holidays and vacations, said the ministry spokesman.

Because of the new Stiko recommendation for booster vaccinations, "an opposite effect" could also occur.

Update from December 22nd, 1:32 p.m .:

Markus Söder * gave a press

statement

together with Klaus Holetschek and Corona crisis chief Carsten Breuer.

Breuer and Söder again pointed out how important vaccinations are in the fight against the coronavirus - especially with regard to the new Omikron variant.

With the new vaccine from Novavax, Söder hopes that he will be more willing to vaccinate.

He also calls for a proposal from the federal government on what vaccination compulsory in Germany could look like.

According to Health Minister Holetschek, a fourth vaccination should already be planned for now.

Corona crisis chief visiting Bavaria: press conference with Söder to read

Update 1:27 p.m.:

With the few vaccine doses that are still available from Biontech, you have to prioritize those under 30, explains Breuer.

According to him, there is no good or bad vaccine, only available.

The press conference is hereby ended.

Update 1:24 p.m.:

Holetschek points out that the fourth vaccination is already being prepared in Israel.

One should also keep an eye on that.

"We actually have to plan for that now," he warns.

Söder notes that the fourth vaccination could of course be regulated much more easily with a general vaccination requirement.

Then you don't have to run after anyone.

Söder sure: "Inoculation pressure" is increasing thanks to the Omikron variant

Update 1:17 p.m.:

The pressure for vaccination will be "relatively high" due to Omikron, according to Söder. He very much hopes that one or the other vaccine skeptic will still be vaccinated with the dead vaccine like Novavax. Federal Health Minister Lauterbach had announced 25 million vaccine doses for the first quarter of 2022, which was a good signal. Söder thinks it would be good if the federal government would make a proposal as to what form a nationwide vaccination requirement could look like. "It needs a clear proposal from the traffic light government," said Söder. The sooner the better.

Update 1:14 p.m.:

Health Minister Klaus Holetschek also

talks about

vaccination.

Doctors in Bavaria had administered over 10 million vaccinations.

He thanks all practices for their commitment.

The new StiKo recommendation for a booster vaccination from three months is a great challenge in vaccine procurement.

Everything will be done to ensure a reliable flow of vaccines can.

Corona crisis chief visiting Bavaria: "Only boosting is a chance to ..."

Update 1:12 p.m.:

Breuer

thinks

it is very important to keep the vaccination centers open over Christmas.

The options for vaccination should definitely continue to exist.

The countries are the pillars of the vaccination strategy.

Without close cooperation, you will not be successful, explains Breuer.

Update 1:10 p.m.:

Carsten Breuer now has the floor.

Because of the high incidences, special attention is still paid to Bavaria.

“You really have to stay on the ball,” said Breuer.

“Only the boosting is a chance to keep the omicron wave in check”.

Update 1:08 p.m.:

The vaccination centers will therefore remain open over the holidays.

Söder also appeals to family doctors to continue making vaccinations possible.

Novavax's new vaccine is to be distributed as soon as possible so that people who prefer a dead vaccine can also be vaccinated.

"There is no reason to sit back," says Söder.

Omikron is a major threat to all medical professions.

Söder thanks for the visit of the crisis chief of staff.

Update from December 22nd, 1:06 p.m.:

The press conference begins.

Bayern have good news, Söder begins.

The incidence has continued to decrease.

"Unfortunately, we have to prepare for a bigger challenge with Omikron," he explains.

Therefore the major general was also visiting.

Above all, boosting is the right way to go here.

Update from December 22nd, 12.50 p.m.:

In a few minutes Prime Minister Markus Söder, Health Minister Klaus Holetschek and Major General Carsten Breuer will appear in front of the press.

Corona in Bavaria: Vaccination centers should remain open over Christmas

Update from December 22nd, 12:13 p.m.:

Corona crisis chief, Carsten Breuer, visits the Free State on Tuesday (December 22nd) to talk to Prime Minister Markus Söder about the current Corona situation (see first report). In an interview with

Bild am Sonntag

he explained how "extremely important" the week before and after Christmas were with regard to vaccinations. Many people would have free and thus time to attend a vaccination appointment. “That is why the vaccination offer must be maintained as nationwide as possible. The vaccination centers remain up. ”He himself will also be on duty at Christmas. “I will of course be on the crisis team on Christmas Eve. The situation in the country makes this necessary. "

According to the general, there is no such thing as a “good or bad vaccine”.

Just available.

The new Omikron variant means that you have to react quickly to developments.

Vaccination centers should therefore no longer be dismantled, but only mothballed, if at all, he explained in an interview.

"In the future we want to be able to vaccinate the majority of the population at any time within weeks."

Update from December 22nd, 6.55 a.m.:

In the Free State, the seven-day incidence has fallen again.

According to the RKI, the value on Wednesday morning is 255.6.

For comparison: the day before it was still 276.7.

The Coburg district currently has the highest incidence in Bavaria at 560.2.

In the state capital Munich, the value sinks to 208.2.

First report from December 21:

Munich - The appointments for Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) do not seem to stop shortly before Christmas.

First there was a meeting of the CSU executive committee on Monday, followed by a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, and then the head of the country took part in the prime ministerial conference.

And the topic of Corona * runs like a red thread through the week in Söders.

On Wednesday, December 22nd, the Corona crisis chief, Major General Carsten Breuer, visits the Free State.

Corona in Bavaria: Head of the crisis team Breuer visits Munich

At 1 p.m. Söder, Breuer and the Bavarian Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) will appear in front of the cameras.

Then at 2:30 p.m. the chief of the crisis staff visits a Munich clinic.

After the appointment there, the major general will visit a family doctor's practice in Munich * at around 6 p.m.

On Tuesday it was announced that the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) will have a new head after a year.

The physician Prof. Christian Weidner takes over from Walter Jonas, who becomes regional president of the Upper Palatinate.

“He is not only an expert on the LGL, but also, as a doctor, an accomplished expert in the subject of risk assessment,” said Bavaria's Minister of Health Holetschek, praising the 50-year-old on Tuesday in Munich.

Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber (Free Voters) sees Weidner as an “extremely competent new head of the authorities”.

Corona in Bavaria: Change at the top of the LGL for the FDP only a "pawn"

The LGL has recently been criticized for calculating the corona incidence * broken down into vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

At its core, it is about the question of whether it is legitimate to add people with an unknown vaccination status to the group of unvaccinated people - even if they now make up a very large part.

Jonas had repeatedly defended his authority's approach from a professional point of view.

The Landtag FDP called Jonas a "pawn" on Tuesday.

In government circles, however, it was emphasized that the procedure for filling the two government president posts had been going on for a long time.
