Hundreds of farmers came today (Tuesday) to demonstrate in front of the Knesset in Jerusalem, in protest of Agriculture Minister Oded Forer's intention to unilaterally approve the 2022 coop regulations.

"This action by the Ministers of Finance and Agriculture means the abandonment of hundreds of families from the Lebanese border and the closure of thousands of farms in the laying industry," the farmers claimed.

Farmers marched from Latrun to the Rose Garden near the Knesset while the Economics Committee convened to discuss the coop regulations for 2022. According to the farmers, if the regulations are approved, it will lead to many farms closing down.

"The Minister of Agriculture wants to harm the egg growers and the entire laying industry through regulations by adding hundreds of quotas, a move that will flood the egg market and collapse the industry. While trying to circumvent the need to repeal planning through primary legislation.
