The city of Regensburg has set up corona rules for New Year's Eve.

Regensburg prohibits fireworks in the old town on New Year's Eve.

The city has also issued a ban on gathering for more than ten people.

Regensburg - The city of Regensburg has also issued a ban on fireworks in the old town this year.

It is valid in the period from

Friday (December 31st), 8:30 p.m. to Saturday (January 1st), 6:00 a.m.

The ban applies to all public areas in the old town south of the Danube and within the green belt.

City of Regensburg prohibits New Year's fireworks in the following places

This consists of the Herzogspark, Prebrunnallee, Fürst-Anselm-Allee, the green areas on Ernst-Reuter-Platz as well as on Landshuter Straße, Gabelsbergerstraße and Villapark.

No firecrackers and rockets may be detonated on any public space in Stadtamhof and the Upper and Lower Wöhrd at the turn of the year.

This is also prohibited on the Nibelungen Bridge, the Iron and Stone Bridge, the Iron Bridge, the bridge at the hydroelectric power station (Winzerweg), the Danube Canal Regensburg weir bridge, the Pfaffensteiner Bridge, the Grieser Bridge, the Upper Palatinate Bridge and the Protzenweiher Bridge.  

Banging on private surfaces is allowed.

However, the city advises that there should be enough space to avoid accidents.

Fireworks should therefore not be set off in narrow backyards or on balconies, the message continues. 

City prohibits large gatherings on New Year's Eve 

The city also announces that between December 31, 3 p.m., and January 1, 2022, 9 a.m., gatherings of more than ten people in public squares and in the vicinity are prohibited.

In doing so, it refers to the 15th Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance (15th BayIfSMV).  

The collection ban applies in the following areas: Bismarckplatz, Gutenbergplatz, Neupfarrplatz (with Gesandersstraße), St.-Kassiansplatz, Domplatz (with Domstraße and Krauterermarkt), Kohlenmarkt (with Wahlenstraße and Goliathstraße), Haidplatz (with Rote-Hahnen-Gasse), Arnulfsplatz ( with Ludwigstraße), Steinerne Brücke (with Am Brückenbasar), exit of the Steinerne Brücke to the beginning of the property Müllerstraße 1, Stadtamhof, Thundorferstraße (with Marc-Aurel-Ufer to Donaulände), Weinlände (with Am Weinmarkt), Keplerstraße, Goldene-Bären -Straße, Weisse-Lamm-Gasse, Fischmarkt, Obermünsterplatz, Obermünsterstraße. 

New Year's Eve rules are supposed to relieve hospitals 

As in the previous year, the federal government has imposed a nationwide sales ban on fireworks this time.

This is to prevent additional stress on hospitals, which are currently at their limits due to the corona pandemic.
