Annamaria Franzoni and her husband Stefano Lorenzi spent three days in the villa of the crime in Cogne on the occasion of the New Year. Almost twenty years after the murder of their son Samuele (which took place on January 30, 2022), the couple celebrated New Year's Eve with a fireworks display in the sky from the garden of the house. The news was reported today by the newspaper La Stampa.

It is not the first time that the woman has returned to the house in the Montroz hamlet since she served her sentence at 16 (reduced to less than 11) for the killing of her son. After returning to freedom, as early as November 2018 she had been noticed in the chalet by some neighbors.

In June 2021 the dispute between the Franzoni family and the lawyer Carlo Taormina ended with which the villa in Cogne risked being auctioned. The Aosta court had in fact declared the executive procedure to be terminated, initiated at the request of the lawyer who complained about the non-payment of defensive fees for over 275 thousand euros, which became approximately 450 thousand in the attachment deed. "The Franzoni spouses have started to pay", said the lawyer Taormina.

The villa was released from seizure on 23 March 2013, in the presence of Stefano Lorenzi.

Since then she had returned to the full availability of the family, until the foreclosure, then revoked.

On 4 February, Annamaria Franzoni had denounced the existence of macabre tourism in the Cogne villa in the courtroom of Aosta.

She had appeared as a witness and civil party during a trial for trespass against a journalist and a telecine operator, who were later acquitted.
