Hong Kong Customs conducted an anti-drug operation in the area of ​​Cheung Sha Wan this afternoon (13th), intercepted a young couple with a 3-year-old son, and seized two pieces of heroin suspected of being hidden in dog food and tea. In a commercial building unit in Phase 2 of Billion Plaza, Cheung Sha Wan, a drug storage warehouse was smashed. A total of 11 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine and about 6.5 kilograms of suspected heroin with a market value of more than 16 million were seized in the operation, and the couple were arrested.

Qiu Yingyang, the investigation officer of the second drug investigation team of the Customs Drug Investigation Division, said that during the anti-drug operation in Cheung Sha Wan area today, Customs officers stopped and checked a couple and a child at Cheung Yu Street until the afternoon. The 28-year-old husband, his 24-year-old wife, and their 3-year-old son, who were traveling with them, found two pieces of heroin, weighing about 700 grams, suspected to be hidden in dog food and tea in the reusable bag held by the husband. Officers immediately arrested the couple. Later, the two were taken to a nearby commercial building suspected to be used as a drug storage warehouse for search, and 11 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine and about 6.5 kilograms of suspected heroin were seized. In this operation, a total of drugs with a market value of more than 16 million yuan were seized. The arrested man reported being unemployed, while the woman reported being a waiter.

It is reported that the searched unit was only sub-leased for 2 weeks, and the unit had no furnishings, only two leather crates and drugs, believed to be used as a drug storage warehouse.

Qiu Yingyang also said that he believed that the drug dealers tried to disguise the outdoor activities of a family of three in order to reduce the vigilance of law enforcement officers and avoid interception.
