Superintendent Chen Jiangming of the Police Drug Investigation Bureau pointed out that from January 11 to 13, officers of the Police Drug Investigation Bureau conducted interception and search operations in Yuen Long, North Point and Western District.

During the operation, the police arrested a 58-year-old local man and a 40-year-old Filipino woman on charges of "trafficking dangerous drugs", and seized over 154 kilograms of various types of drugs, including 96 kilograms of heroin, 25 kilograms of marijuana and 34 kilograms of cannabis. Ketamine, with a market value of about HK$125 million.

One of the arrested men was temporarily charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and appeared in the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Court this morning (14th), while another Filipino woman, a foreign domestic helper, is still being detained by the police.

Senior Inspector Ng Ka-lun of the Police's Drug Investigation Division said that on the 11th of this month, detectives stopped a 58-year-old man surnamed Lau local on Ma Tin Road, Yuen Long. The detectives found 4 kilograms of ketamine on him.

After that, the detectives escorted him back to his unit for search, and seized 42 kilograms of heroin, 25 kilograms of marijuana and 5 kilograms of ketamine, and seized HK$1 million in cash.

The police believe that some of the drugs are related to a warehouse in Western District. It is believed that drugs from the above site were transported to a mini warehouse in North Point, and a truck was called to deliver the drugs to the above site.

The arrested woman is a foreign domestic helper. She started a contract in June last year, and the contract period is one year to June this year. She receives 100 yuan in cash for each action. As for how she was recruited by the drug cartel, it remains to be investigated.

Detectives went to the warehouse in Western District to investigate and found 360 bags of cocoa beans weighing 50 kilograms, as well as 21 boxes of protein powder and chocolate powder. No other drugs were found after that.

The police pointed out that a 44-year-old Chinese man is currently wanted, and he is believed to be a key member of a drug syndicate, and he cannot rule out further arrests.

Chen Jiangming continued to point out that the drugs seized this time were divided into small pieces and squares, each weighing about 150 grams. It is believed that it is convenient to mix the drugs into cocoa beans for disguise. The batch of cocoa beans was shipped from Ecuador to Hong Kong by cargo ship at the end of December last year. , and then transferred to the storage warehouse in Western District.

The Police remind employers, companies and related groups of foreign domestic helpers to pay attention to whether foreign domestic helpers are unusual, including suddenly becoming extravagant and changing their going out habits.
