The US Treasury has announced restrictions on three Lebanese citizens who laundered funds for the terrorist organization and its activities • According to Washington, Hezbollah, being part of the government, is blocking and harming the economic progress required of Lebanese citizens

The US Treasury announced today (Tuesday) that it has imposed sanctions on three terrorist financiers on behalf of the Shiite-Lebanese organization and a travel company through which they allegedly laundered funds.

These are three Lebanese citizens: Adal Diab, Ali Muhammad Down, Jihad Salem Alma and the tourism company that has operated so far - "Dar al-Salem".

In an official statement from the US Office of Foreign Property Control (OFAC), they justified the decision in light of the sensitive economic situation in Lebanon and the fact, according to Washington, that Hezbollah, being part of the Cedar government "blocks economic reforms and prevents much-needed change for the Lebanese people." .

The secretary of state for the Ministry of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Brian Nelson, explained that "in this action, the Ministry of Finance is disrupting businessmen who raise and launder money for Hezbollah, while the Lebanese people face the aggravation of the country's economic and humanitarian crisis."

In addition, in an official statement released tonight, it states that through businessmen like those who have been blacklisted "Hezbollah is gaining access to financial support through the legitimate business sector to fund its terrorist acts and attempts to undermine Lebanon's political institutions."

The economic crisis in Lebanon erupted following the Syrian civil war, when businessmen from the Gulf states began withdrawing money from the banks because of Hezbollah's involvement in favor of the Assad regime.

Beyond that, institutional corruption has led to a huge budget deficit and a lack of necessary reforms.

The state is also having difficulty importing fuel to operate additional power plant power plants.
