Now there are two innovations: Employers can pay in more money and collected points can be donated.

District - The bonus payment system in the form of the blue Oberlandcard is intended to strengthen the regional economy.

As reported, it has been in circulation since May last year.

Around 1,500 customers can now collect points from more than 60 partners in the district and then redeem them again in the form of discounts.

The discount function is still there - but it has now been supplemented by a donation function.

As reported by the location marketing company (SMG), points can be donated to the district association of the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) since December.

The amount of points can be chosen freely.

The donation can then be requested via the user account.

"We've been a big supporter of the Oberlandcard since the beginning," BRK district manager Robert Kießling is quoted as saying in the press release.

The card is accepted in BRK shops.

The district association also gives blood donors a charged Oberlandcard.

"We are all the more pleased that we can now benefit from this as a voluntary organization," says Kießling.

BRK can redeem donated points

According to SMG, the donation option was introduced at the request of customers.

Florian Brunner, project manager at SMG, explains: "The donated points can be redeemed through the BRK with all participating partners." This keeps the regional cycle going.

The recipient of the donation is changed at regular intervals.

Various clubs in the district should be able to benefit from the new opportunity.

As a further innovation, employees benefit from being able to receive 50 euros from their employers - instead of the previous 44 euros - as a tax-free benefit in kind.

Right from the start, 16 employers decided to pay the tax-free benefit in kind onto their employees' Oberlandcards.

It is now possible to continue paying in six euros more tax-free.

Employers can deposit more money

Alexander Schmid, Managing Director of the Oberlandcard, says: "If companies pass on these benefits in kind to their employees via the Oberlandcard, that's a great thing." This keeps purchasing power in the region.

Employers who are interested in the bonus payment system receive the cards from SMG free of charge and can top them up by subscription.
