Opinion | This struggle is about values, without compromise Israel today

2022-01-24T19:50:58.023Z

The Netanyahu trial is the first confrontation of the traditional, Mizrahi, Likudnik right against the first Israel.

The current quarrel must not be swept away.

I'm one of those people who hears the words "we need to talk" shivers, but this time the situation is different.

The days are dramatic, so fateful that there is no choice;

This time really need to talk.

Once in a while a person has to attack his existence, make sure that the boundaries of his world are stable, find out his status among the other actors.

This is an essential need for the individual, the group and society, and it is also essential for the state.

A battle is taking place here over the image of the State of Israel.

A value-based and passionate struggle;

A struggle for life.

A war that must end in a decision.

The right needs it, the left needs it, and most importantly it needs the partnership between us.

We all deserve to know once and for all who distributes the instructions here.

The Netanyahu trial is the first confrontation of the traditional, Mizrahi, Likudnik right against the first Israel.

The crocheted domes lost in the sea, in Oslo and in the disengagement.

This arena is quiet, the balance of power is clear.

Now the second Israel gets its chance to compete.

The decision will not be pleasant, on the contrary.

It will be ugly and involve the heartbreak of many Israelis, but to bequeath it to our sons will be a cowardly and selfish act.

The current situation that hangs in the balance is this: left-wing elites run the affairs of state, and in front of them is the Israeli right that has been ousted to the periphery: geographically, socially and governmentally.

In the background of the scene, and inseparably from it, the questions keep coming to our minds: How far will the left push the right?

When will the camp shake off and respond, and what response should Israeli society expect?

It is said that the impossibility of a fair trial is the reason for accepting the plea bargain, and I say the opposite.

On the contrary, let the judges come and sentence Benjamin Netanyahu to prison.

We'll see them.

Not "seeing them" defiant or threatening, but a real call for clarification, for decision.

Respect the law enforcement system and attach deeds to words.

I am convinced that after this act and after the reaction of the right we will all become wiser.

The aspiration for clarification becomes even more valid within the right-wing camp.

We need to know what we are worth.

Although we are shouting loudly against the injustice done to Benjamin Netanyahu, the peak of our activism to date has been an online fundraising venture.

The 30 seats that are Netanyahu's anchor, we promised ourselves, have meanwhile translated into a lazy demonstration of 30 participants on the ground.

Hence - we will see us.

These are the questions: Does the left have the strength and power to deprive Israel of its Jewish, national and democratic identity?

Will they go all the way?

Yes or no, we need to know, need to know.

Will the right wake up?

Will the streets burn?

I'm not sure.

Our devotion is still in need of proof.

Slowly but surely the understanding permeates in society that this conflict will not be resolved in discourse.

Too many times this dubious drug has been tried, and all its benefit has been to fuel hatred.

The possibility of deciding at the ballot box was also denied to Israeli citizens after Naftali Bennett turned his constituents in denial, and what is left to the right is the streets.

Whoever sticks to his values without regard to price will win.

Whoever cares more will gain the right to write the experiences of Israel in the coming generations.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
