A right-wing US politician made an embarrassing Nazi blunder.

The mockery turns out to be correspondingly malicious.

After all, she received an invitation to the soup from a star chef.

WASHINGTON – A slip of the tongue has brought much ridicule to controversial US Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

During an appearance on Tuesday evening on the very conservative US broadcaster

One America News

, the Republican * from the state of Georgia criticized: "Now we have Nancy Pelosi's gazpacho police, who spy on members of Congress, who spy on our legislative work, ours Spied on employees and spied on American citizens.” She obviously meant to allude to the Gestapo, but mistook the word for the cold vegetable soup from Spain.

The mockery of her slip of the tongue was not long in coming.

"Just to clarify things," the Republican Accountability Project tweeted Wednesday along with a video clip of Greene's performance.

"Gazpacho: a cold Spanish vegetable soup, Gestapo: Nazi Germany's secret police".

Greene's counterpart Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also made a comment.

"At least she's leading by example.

Apparently she banned all books from her home years ago," the Democrat tweeted on Wednesday.

She was alluding to recent efforts by Republicans, among others, to have certain books on topics such as racism put on the poison list in some school libraries.

Renowned Spanish chef José Andrés offered Greene a try of real gazpacho at one of his restaurants in Washington.

Greene himself dabbled in self-mockery.

She wrote on Twitter: "No soup for those illegally spying on members of Congress, they will be thrown in the goulash".

The reference to the Hungarian meat soup was apparently an allusion to another statement from her failed TV appearance, in which she accused the Democrats of putting the attackers on the Capitol in the "Gulag".

US politician with embarrassing Nazi slip of the tongue: She likes to spread conspiracy theories

Greene, who supports Trump's vote-rigging allegations and downplays the attack on the Capitol, is notorious for spreading conspiracy theories.

Among other things, she had compared the vaccination pass in the pandemic with the yellow Jewish star - a comparison not infrequently expressed among those who refuse to vaccinate in Germany.

She also supported online calls for the execution of well-known Democratic politicians like Pelosi.

Nancy Pelosi, who was attacked in the slip of the tongue speech, is the Democratic Speaker of the House and hated figure by many conservatives.

Among other things, they resent the parliamentary committee investigating the storming of the Capitol by supporters of former US President Donald Trump* in January 2021.
