Sittenbach – The people of Sittenbach mourn their host: Lorenz Hörl died unexpectedly at the age of 64.

Its inn was a popular meeting place for all residents of the village for many decades.

The business, which used to include a butcher's shop and a small farm, has been family-owned for several generations.

Lorenz Hörl spent a carefree childhood on the farm with his younger sisters Rosemarie, Christine and Anita.

Even as a teenager, he was busy helping out in the company.

There he completed his apprenticeship as a butcher after school.

In 1995 his parents handed over the business and the butcher's shop to him.

The latter, however, he had to give up a few years later with a heavy heart due to a lack of staff.

But there was always something going on in the restaurant.

"The clubs were very important to him," reports his sister Christine Hörl.

"He always had an open ear for her."

Lorenz Hörl had been an active member of the Roman riflemen since his youth.

The boys' club, the girls' club, the veterans' club, the Sittenbach brass band, the archers, the firecrackers, the fire brigade, the local history club and the garden club also liked to hold their meetings at his brewery.

At Christmas parties, for example, Lorenz Hörl often looked after the last guests late into the night.

Maypole celebrations, city festivals, parish festivals, carnival balls, weddings, baptisms and birthday parties - the people of Sittenbach like to think back to many good experiences in the economy.

At his funeral, the flag delegations of all clubs paid him their last respects.

Lorenz Hörl was also an enthusiastic shepherd.

He liked to watch the regular guests play cards – and if the business allowed it, he liked to play a round himself.

"He was also very interested in sport," says his sister Rosemarie Riemensperger.

He liked to watch FC Bayern Munich games best, but he also enjoyed watching skiing, ice hockey and other sports on television.

Lorenz Hörl also always particularly enjoyed good Bavarian food.

With a nice knuckle of pork, a roast pork or a good snack, the world was fine for him, his sisters report.

"He was a very good-natured person and lived according to the motto, live and let live," says Rosemarie Riemensperger.

Lorenz Hörl had a very close relationship not only with his sisters, but also with his five nieces and nephews and their families.

And for the people of Sittenbach, his death marks the end of an era.

The grief in the village is great.
