This perimeter of 72 km2, "where more than 430,000 inhabitants live", specifies the Metropolis, is included between the Arc-en-Ciel ring road to the west, the ring road to the north and south and the east ring road, de facto integrating part of the municipalities of Tournefeuille and Colomiers.

From this Tuesday, March 1, heavy goods vehicles and professional vehicles such as vans or vans with a Crit'Air 5 or unclassified sticker, i.e. the most polluting vehicles, will no longer be able to enter the perimeter defined by Toulouse Métropole.

Restrictions which will apply from September 1 to these same vehicles classified as Crit'Air 4. Then will follow all motorized vehicles certified Crit'Air 4, 5 and not classified on January 1, 2023 then, one year later, also Crit'Air 'Air 3.

Concern for certain professions concerned

Many derogations are however put in place for a period of 3 years.

This is the case for example for refrigerated vehicles, those of the construction industry such as concrete mixers or sweeping washers, household waste dumpsters, armored vans, tank trucks, etc.

Despite this, the professional union Mobilians, former National Council of Automotive Professions, is concerned about these measures, like its departmental president Raymond Vié.

“We were consulted and heard on certain points.

Nevertheless, we fear the disappearance of businesses within the perimeter of the ZFE, such as garages, either due to closures or relocations to the outskirts, ”says the one who represents the trades of repairers, sellers, rental companies, automobile repairers and two wheels.

“We obviously cannot be opposed to improving air quality, because people's health is at stake.

It is true that some vehicles emit far too many harmful fine particles, ”he adds, hoping to be able to influence certain rule changes in the future.

As a reminder, owners of vehicles who derogate from the new regulations are liable to a fine of 68 euros for light or utility vehicles and 135 euros for heavy goods vehicles.
