A 70-year-old man in Pacific Place, Admiralty, was attacked by assailants with a neck hoop and stampede on his face. He suffered severe injuries to his face and neck and is in critical condition.
A 23-year-old man was arrested by the Hong Kong Island Regional Crime Squad on suspicion of "attempted murder" and police are investigating the cause of the attack, sources said.
It is understood that the injured worked as a cook and was attacked while sitting idle in the mall.

The incident happened at 8:13 pm yesterday (9th), an old man surnamed Ruan (70 years old) was found lying on the ground in a coma on the third floor of the shopping mall.
Ambulancemen arrived at the scene, and Ruan Weng suffered serious injuries to his face and neck. The victim was transported by ambulance to Queen Mary Hospital, where he is still in critical condition.
