The activity of reading circles for youth and adolescents “Fruits of Imagination” was concluded today at the Palace of Culture in the Arab Cultural Center in As-Suwayda, which was launched by the Life Skills Team in the Child Culture Department in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture, the Arab Writers Union branch, the Youth Union branch and the “Hakaya” art group.
The event, which lasted for weeks, in which the participating youths competed to read international novels and presented their criticisms and discussions about them, in the presence of a jury from the Writers Union branch.
The conclusion of the event included a short promo presentation on the importance of reading entitled “Reading is the Balance of the Mind” and a brief film material about the event prepared by Lujain Al-Hadi, in addition to readings by a number of the participants in the event, who numbered about 30 young men and women, young and old, who were distributed into four episodes.
Director of the Child Culture Department in the Suwayda Culture Directorate, Diala Al-Mulhim, explained in a speech that the event comes within the Ministry of Culture’s plan to encourage reading, which constitutes a cultural and civilizational lever and a window through which we overlook the fields of knowledge and creativity in the face of what we suffer from reluctance to read.
In his turn, the supervisor of the event, the writer and poet Mansour Harb Henedy, indicated in a speech that the event, which is being held in its fourth consecutive edition, aims to encourage young people and young people to read and motivate them to read the largest number of books because this hobby is a basic need for societies wishing to develop.
