Boarding house, baker, bank, hairdresser.

The Rewe building, for which the groundbreaking ceremony has now taken place in Berglern, has a lot to offer.

However, the complete closure causes trouble.

Berglern – It was "only" the first groundbreaking for the traffic development for the Rewe in Berglern, but that aroused the mayor Anton Scherer's expectations of further festivities.

He already mentioned: "The groundbreaking ceremony for building construction, the topping-out ceremony, the inauguration." The event on Friday on the construction site was indeed something to be proud of: the list of those who welcomed the investor Adrian Scharl was long, and the line of spades who for the official groundbreaking in a specially thrown long heap of sand, it was too.

But first there were facts about the history of the building, with Scharl emphasizing one name: Deputy Mayor Otmar Lerch.

He expressly named him as the one who got the whole project rolling.

In football it would be: "After preparatory work by...." And that was Daniel Helmecke.

According to Scharl, the two had brought his company, initially his parents, into play.

That was clearly before the last municipal election.

The concept was then awarded in December 2020.

Penny first canceled and then accepted again, but in the end you could announce: "Rewe is coming!"

Scharl, to whom his parents had meanwhile handed over the project, said: "Enormous documents have been submitted." The municipal council also wanted a lot: a baker, pharmacy, bank, hairdresser.

The project name "Berglerner Shopping Center" was developed, and it looks like this: 1,200 square meters for the full-range retailer, 110 square meters for the pharmacy, plus a self-service point for the Raiffeisen bank.

Scharl took his mother-in-law as an example of a customer and quoted bank boss Christian Berther as saying: "Yes, if it's for the mother-in-law, then we'll also put in a statement printer." There was laughter, in contrast to the anger because of it the current slow traffic as a result of the complete closure (see report in info box).

Anger about shortcuts and detour signs

Berglern – Wartenberger Straße in Berglern has been completely closed for almost three months since Monday due to work on developing the area for the Rewe supermarket and the new town centre.

A detour route is signposted, but according to unanimous reports from Mayor Anton Scherer and several local councils at the council meeting on Thursday evening, it does not work properly at all.

Robert Krieger was the first to address the issue, saying there was a lot of slow traffic on the residential streets and that the tonnage restrictions posted were regularly ignored.

There is no way it could go on like this, he said, and even reported that garbage cans had been broken.

"It won't be long before we have the first damage," said Krieger.

The roads used - he called the secret path via Hardter Strasse and Feldmauerweg - were not built for such a heavy traffic load.

Simon Oberhofer criticized the signage for the detour routes and called them a joke.

The first suspicions that these are only locals who know the area and are somehow looking for and finding a way around the closed road - sometimes also via cycle paths closed to car traffic - were refuted on the basis of the foreign license plates.

There is already initial photo evidence of this, and navigation devices have been targeted by the municipal council as a cause of the smuggling traffic.

Mayor Scherer energetically rejected the responsibility of the municipality for this situation, after all it is a district road and therefore the district and the associated authorities are also responsible for it.

It is true that there is a huge need for improvement in the signposting of the detour route.

Scherer reported that he had already worked here.

There are already corresponding commitments from the district.

Already on Wednesday there had been criticism of the diversion signs in Wartenberg in the market council.

Scherer hopes that the changes will soon be implemented and will be successful.

At the same time, he had already contacted the police, and they had promised increased controls.

At the same time, he didn't want to forget that this was an investment that was important for the future of the Berglern community.

These are just a few hard weeks that you have to go through.

Basically, however, he described the complaints from the citizens, which have now been addressed by the municipal councils, as justified in all cases.

Office units are rented on the first floor, a boarding house with 21 units is being built on the second floor, and the entrepreneur himself will move into his offices on the third floor.

Scharl told the press that the lease for the pharmacy was recently signed.

It will be the fifth branch of the Ochsner family of pharmacists from Erding.

It will probably be called “Ochsner pharmacy in the BEZ” for short.

According to Scharl, it wasn't that easy to fulfill the wish for a pharmacy: "I called everyone that Google could think of," he described his market research.

However, planner Franz Pezold had written the pharmacy into the development plan, so Scharl couldn't do without it.

Welcoming speeches were given by Vice District Administrator Franz Hofstetter, who certified the mayor and the council: "Everything was done correctly." Scherer was more precise: It was right not to put up a standard low-rise building of a discounter.

He thanked the council for their perseverance on this point.

And by the way: There will also be a public toilet in this new building, so that this old topic can also be considered settled.
