First climate protection prize for the solar pioneer from Indersdorf

The climate protection pioneer Wilhelm Kirchensteiner from Indersdorf receives the new award of 5000 euros from the Ministry of the Environment.
Indersdorf – For special merits in climate protection, the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment has awarded a prize based on the Bavarian Climate Protection Act for the first time: to Wilhelm Kirchensteiner from Indersdorf for his solar case, a "professional training and further education project for climate protection".

Climate protection is a participatory project for society as a whole," emphasized Bavaria's Environment Minister Thorsten Faithr at the award ceremony in Regensburg: He therefore wanted to honor outstanding achievements and commitment to climate protection.
The prize, worth a total of 10,000 euros, was awarded in two categories: The first category includes private individuals who have made a special contribution to protecting the climate or adapting to the effects of climate change.
The second category is intended for clubs, municipalities or companies with outstanding commitment.
The winners of both categories will receive prize money of 5000 euros each.
In addition, an image film will be made about the award-winning initiative, which the award winners can use for themselves.
Wilhelm Kirchensteiner is a "pioneer" in the field of education for the energy transition, said Glauber in his laudatory speech.
The 72-year-old Indersdorfer worked for 35 years as a vocational school teacher in electrical engineering in Munich.
Outside of the vocational school, Kirchensteiner was able to initiate and implement solar projects at the middle school in Markt Indersdorf, which became the essential basis for the Bavarian educational program "Sun in School".
After his retirement, he continued to develop the professional training projects on climate protection for an energy transition and climate protection for power supply, heating and mobility nationally and internationally.
From 1997, his work led to the founding of the "Training Center for Solar Technology of the LH Munich".
With the Technical Training Institute Dr.
Paul Christiani, since 2000 he has organized the production and delivery of the teaching materials and teaching materials he developed for interested schools in Europe.
