Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has assured Moldova of full support in Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
At a meeting with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Nicu Popescu, the Green politician emphasized on Friday at the G7 meeting in Weißenhäuser Strand on the Baltic Sea in Schleswig-Holstein that it was about showing solidarity towards Ukraine and towards Moldova.
Wangels - Baerbock told Popescu it was a pleasure to see him for the third time in three months, although "the situation is the opposite of pleasure."
Popescu wanted to take part in the deliberations of the group of leading democratic industrial nations (G7) in a luxury hotel near Weissenhauser Strand in the morning together with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.
Baerbock had invited both to attend the meeting temporarily.
Kuleba and Popescu also met in the morning for bilateral talks on the fringes of the G7 deliberations.
As a small neighboring country to Ukraine, Moldova is considered a possible first target of another Russian attack.

The G7 ministers also want to discuss the global consequences of the war for food and energy security.
At times, the Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi should also be involved.
Indonesia currently chairs the Group of the 20 most important industrialized and emerging countries (G20).
