Mainz – The sometimes severe storms at the beginning of this week hit the flooded Ahr Valley (Rhineland-Palatinate) in particular.
Some streets were flooded and basements were full.
According to the Ahrweiler Technical Relief Agency, it was mainly due to "flooded basements" at several locations in the Bad Neunahr-Ahrweiler area.
There was support from THW Sinzig.
According to the Bad Neuenahr fire brigade, a total of 39 deployment sites had to be processed.

In a short time almost 50 liters per square meter fell from the sky.
Private weather stations in the region even reported up to 70 liters of rain per square meter, reports the weather

Ten months after the flood disaster, this brought back memories for the residents of the Ahr Valley.
“Then it came all of a sudden, within an hour.
We panicked all over again.
You just can't get any rest," a resident told
RTL.
"We have to live with it as best we can." The flood in the Ahr Valley killed many people and destroyed thousands of houses.

The violent thunderstorms picked up in the afternoon.
The first alarm was received by the Bad Neuenahr fire department at 3:13 p.m.

The German Weather Service (DWD) warned of some strong thunderstorm cells on Monday.
For the Ahr Valley, severe thunderstorms and heavy rain and hail were initially warned.
After the turbulent start to the week, the weather conditions are visibly relaxing on Tuesday.
The DWD experts warn that there could still be individual thunderstorms in the northern mountains.
However, that is not the all-clear.
"On Thursday from the north-west and west from the late afternoon into the night extending into the central parts of the country, there is a risk of thunderstorms with severe weather potential," says the current DWD warning report.
