The World Health Organization has warned of more cases of the mysterious disease that causes blisters in patients' skin • Once a case is discovered in Israel, health authorities in the country will hold a discussion on the spread of the disease

A new global epidemic?

The number of diagnosed cases of the monkey pox virus has risen to 80 in 12 different countries, the World Health Organization announced today (Saturday).

According to the organization's announcement, another 50 cases are currently being investigated on suspicion of being a virus.

The organization warned that more cases could be discovered soon and that the world's health authorities should be prepared accordingly.

The virus has already spread to four continents, America, Europe, Australia and Asia.

The virus probably originated in Africa and is the most common disease in the center and west of the continent.

It is a viral infection that is usually manifested by only mild symptoms, from which the patient recovers within a few weeks, but in rare cases can cause a serious illness.

Medical services in the UK stated today that the virus is not considered to have the potential for widespread public risk because it is not easily transmitted between humans.

An Israeli man in his 30s, returning from a trip to Western Europe, arrived at the Ichilov emergency room with suspicious lesions of the monkey pox virus.

His condition was defined as mild and he was hospitalized for evaluation and supervision in an isolation room.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health's epidemic treatment team will hold a discussion tonight on the developments in the Monkeypox outbreak in the world.

The discussion was brought forward in light of the patient's location in Israel.

The monkey pox virus that is now spreading in the West raises concerns about another outbreak of a serious disease in the world, right after we have finished dealing with the corona virus, quite a few questions arise about the virus.

Dr. Yael Paran, who is in charge of infectious and tropical diseases in the Tel Aviv Medical Center, sounded a sedative siren in a conversation with Israel Today.

Dr. Farren explained that the disease is usually mild, and that the virus is only transmitted through really close contact (like unprotected sex). The disease has vaccines and drugs in the West, so there is no fear of a severe fatal outbreak or a huge outbreak like we experienced with the corona virus.
