With the aim of confronting leishmaniasis in rural Hama and alleviating the suffering of the citizens, the Hama Health Directorate has taken a number of measures through the Al-Barda and Leishmaniasis Center affiliated to the Directorate.
These measures, according to Dr. Basil Ibrahim, head of the center, included distributing mosquito nets impregnated with insecticides to all families living in the city of Kafr Zita and the town of Al-Lataminah in the northern countryside of the governorate.
The head of the center explained to SANA reporter that impregnated bed nets play an important role in mitigating leishmaniasis, based on past experiences, so they were distributed free of charge in cooperation with an international organization in areas where the disease is common, where people were taught how to use bed nets optimally to ensure the success of their work, knowing that they are Safely effective for at least three years.
The health education team at the center also provided the people in the northern countryside of the governorate, according to Ibrahim, with comprehensive and detailed information about leishmaniasis, ways of its spread, and how to prevent and mitigate it. The large spread of leishmaniasis in them.
The Al-Barda and Leishmaniasis Center in Hama city center receives daily patients with the disease and provides free treatment to them using nitrogen spray. It also conducts a survey of suspected infections with the aim of diagnosing the disease and starting the treatment phase that continues until full recovery.
