An earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale struck off Japan's Bonin Islands today.
Reuters quoted the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center as saying that the quake struck at a depth of 40 km, and there were no reports of injuries or damage.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning and the resulting change in sea level for a string of remote islands, including Chichijima, one of the Bonin islands.
Yesterday, five people were injured in an earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale that struck Ishikawa Prefecture, central Japan.
