Damascus-SANA

The terrorist war that targeted Syria over the past years has taken many forms of military, economic, media and ideological targeting, but the Syrians, through their institutions, confronted this war in their respective places and confronted it with all their faith in their homeland.

And because the most dangerous battles are related to thought, cultural institutions have doubled their work, foremost of which are the cultural centers that were platforms of radiation and enlightenment and continued despite all circumstances to perform their mission based on the belief that culture is the supreme need of man and it must be adhered to and work on its development and enrichment regardless of the conditions and circumstances, especially during War to resist all abnormal ideas and attempts at Western cultural invasion.

Naima Suleiman, Director of Damascus Culture, stated in a statement to SANA that despite the conditions that the country has experienced over the years as a result of terrorism, cultural activities in all its various forms and patterns have not stopped in most of the governorates, which came in the context of loving and defending the homeland and confronting all the cultural and intellectual invasion campaigns that Enemies tried to target the Syrians through it.

The activities and events hosted by the cultural centers varied during the war years, perhaps the most prominent of which are the special symposia under the title “Confronting the Cultural Invasion,” during which large areas were devoted to raising awareness about the role of the individual, institutions, and authorities in confronting this invasion, in addition to seminars that examined the results and outcomes of the terrorist war on society and its members. and ways to treat it.

Head of the Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh Rabab Ahmed explained that the center did not close its doors for one day and its activities did not stop despite all the difficult circumstances, noting that the activities were varied and included literature, poetry, thought, music, plastic art exhibitions, political, economic and cinematic seminars, with hosting signatures for books, collections and events for children and families Disability The center was also a forerunner in honoring Syrian statures.

The Rapporteur of the Poetry Society of the Arab Writers Union, Jihad Al-Ahmadiyya, stressed the importance of cultural events of an intellectual level because they are a civilizational necessity that expresses the advancement of peoples and nations, considering that cultural activity in its various forms during the past years has devoted values and concepts and preserved them from loss in the shadow of chaos and demagoguery in the last decade that Syria was subjected to various types of intellectual invasion and intrusive ideas.

The Ahmadiyya do not hesitate to point out some observations on the activities offered in cultural centers that are less important than ambitious and do not live up to the hoped-for level, considering at the same time that this is caused by the difficult circumstances the country has gone through.

The head of the Damascus Countryside Branch of the Arab Writers Union, the critic Ghassan Ghoneim, saw that some cultural centers suffer from irregularity in their activities or the establishment of some unimportant activities that do not provide additional knowledge to the public, but he noted that the centers continue to provide their services to the largest possible number of those interested in cultural affairs.

Director of Rural Damascus Culture Ibrahim Saeed explained that despite all attempts to obliterate the identity of belonging, many cultural projects and festivals and forums were launched during the war in most cultural centers in various governorates, pointing out that the role of the centers will increase in importance in the coming years to confront the effects and repercussions of the terrorist war that targeted Syrian society.
