"Art drives on sight"

The art group “Artists from the built-in closet” succumbed to the charm of the abandoned Heine headquarters on Kientalstrasse in Herrsching back in February. Since then, the members have been working on a concept for an art and culture event, because before the former administration and production building of Heine-Optotechnik is demolished and made room for an apartment building with a total of 36 apartments, the Herrschingen artists can let off steam in it again.

Herrsching

- From July 14th to 17th, "The artists from the built-in closet" will transform the former company headquarters into a cultural space, as they had done before the demolition of the Henle sports store on Seestrasse.

For four days, as part of a creative interim use, art by more than 20 artists will be exhibited on more than 1000 square meters.

At the same time there is a large program of events with live concerts, dance performances, comedy, readings, poetry slams and surprises.

"Art drives on sight" is the title of the exhibition - and it is the program.

No one can say how the Corona situation will be in July, "that's why we will adapt the scope and schedule of the event to the current situation at short notice," emphasize the seven members of the art group.

These are Gesine Dorschner, Dirk Eckert, Nina Fritzsche, Christof Jenauth, Felix Maizet, Enno Müller-Spaethe and Monika Roll.

Since 2012, the Herrschinger Kunstgruppe has been transforming vacant buildings into temporary galleries.

The first project was a villa from the 1960s on Schönbichlstrasse.

Due to a lack of partition walls, large parts of the exhibits were presented in the existing built-in cupboards.

Consequently, the exhibition was called “Art in the built-in cupboard” and thus provided the template for the group's name.

In 2014, the district's cultural promotion prize was awarded for the original concept.

As with all events of the installation artists, this time the focus is not only on the fine arts but also on the festival character.

Therefore, the art exhibition will be accompanied by a large number of live acts every day.

The organizers want to offer something for every taste.

The Heine-Haus has a long company tradition.

The location has been a fixed point since the 1890s when there was an inn owned by carpenter and mayor Benedikt Rehm.

Therefore, the project developer Bayernwohnen, who bought the building, also offered the house to the art group in order to make it accessible to the public again before it was demolished.

"The fact that we can support local clubs and especially artists and cultural workers makes it particularly worthwhile," says project manager and architect Fabian Strebel.

"Art drives on sight" starts on Thursday, July 14, at 7 p.m. with a vernissage.

After that, the exhibition is open every day.

The detailed opening hours, all start times of the live events and "a lot of things that cannot be planned" can be found in good time on the artists' website at www.dkade.de and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/KunstimEinbauschrank.
