The idea seems so obvious that no one, until now, had implemented it.
In Limoges, water from municipal swimming pools will no longer be discharged into the city's networks, but used to water parks and gardens.
“Each summer, the swimming pools are emptied so that we can repair and clean the pipes and the basins.
But this time, the water will not be wasted”, welcomes Philippe Pradon, sports director.
"Today, it seems totally inconceivable to discharge thousands of liters of water rather than use it".
The covered swimming pool of Beaublanc and Les Casseaux, i.e. two pools of 500 m³ each, will thus make it possible to water the municipal golf course, the sports park and the gardens according to needs.
Chlorine evaporated after ten days
“The project was born out of a simple discussion between technicians from the sports and green spaces departments.
We were convinced of the usefulness of this approach.
We presented it to elected officials.
They were all delighted.
The mayor is very sensitive to this issue of waste,” notes Philippe Pradon.
A few technical details remain to be validated.
Once the chlorine has evaporated after ten days, tests will be carried out, starting this Monday, June 27, to check the pumping and filling system of the tanker truck.
The million liters of water thus recovered can be used from July 11.

The services considered, for a time, to take advantage of the closing of the ice rink this summer, to also reuse the ice.
“But we haven't solved the problem of its storage,” acknowledges Philippe Pradon.
"Maybe next year if we find a solution!"
