Xi Jinping visited a key laboratory of InnoHK's innovative Hong Kong R&D platform, and encouraged the attending Hong Kong researchers and representatives of I&T companies to redouble their efforts.

Xue Yongheng and Wong Wai-lun introduced the development and planning of I&T in Hong Kong

The Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr. Xue Yongheng, briefed Xi Jinping on Hong Kong's scientific research strength and overall I&T development, as well as the achievements in promoting I&T achieved by the current-term government's investment of more than $150 billion in five years.

Huang Keqiang, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, then introduced the seven scientific research achievements on display, covering life and health, artificial intelligence, robotics and engineering applications.

Carrie Lam thanked the country's "14th Five-Year Plan" for proposing to develop the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into an international science and technology innovation center, and expressly supports Hong Kong in building an international innovation and technology center.

She said that Hong Kong will implement the "Northern Metropolitan Region Development Strategy" to facilitate the development of innovation and technology and deepen innovation and technology cooperation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

Xi Jinping then visited the Hong Kong Neurodegenerative Disease Center under the Hong Kong flagship project InnoHK Innovation Hong Kong R&D Platform.

The director of the center, Ye Yuru, introduced the interdisciplinary research team of the center, which is committed to promoting the research of neurodegenerative diseases and the transformation of scientific research results, so as to accurately diagnose Alzheimer's disease, so as to realize early screening and treatment.
