There is a drastic housing shortage in Munich.
Shortly before the summer break, the city council launched projects – including the construction of 2,500 new apartments.
Munich – It was the last session before the summer break.
And the city council used it to advance some important projects.
In the committee for urban planning and building regulations, the housing project was adopted as a statute - an important step towards the final realization.
Other construction projects for more living space in Munich were approved and approved conditionally.
New apartments for Munich: city council launches projects
The project on Appenzeller Strasse in Fürstenried was adopted as a statute.
According to the Rathaus-Umschau, "an additional 660 new apartments will be built in the existing housing estate of the Bavarian Supply Chamber on both sides of Appenzeller Strasse and Bellinzonastrasse."
Among other things, a café is to be built around the district square.

The project includes partially subsidized apartments and three day care centers.
There is also a shop, a café and a neighborhood meeting place around the district square.
"The existing open spaces will be upgraded and strengthened as meeting points for young and old," it says.

More apartments for Munich: Projects on the (long) path
The Rathaus-Umschau calls another project a “key data and installation resolution”.
Its goal is the "overplanning of the previously predominantly agriculturally used plots on Heltauer Straße in Trudering-Riem".
Housing is to be created here.
We are talking about a new district with around 1,500 apartments.
However, the project is still in its infancy: According to the announcement, the overall concept "should be developed with an urban and landscape planning competition".

In addition, an “urban, dense, mixed-use” urban building block is to be built in Neuperlach-Zentrum, more precisely at Fritz-Schäffer-Strasse 9 arise there".
Here, too, initially only a competition with workshop procedures was decided.
While the construction project on Appenzeller Strasse is at a more final stage, it will still take a few years, to put it mildly, before the new apartments in Trudering-Riem and Perlach can be occupied.
One should therefore not expect direct relief for the battered Munich housing market.
